16 week appointment

All's good in babyland. I had a long appointment today. The doc did a complete physical and I had blood drawn and all that fun stuff. Everything looked great! He did an ultrasound to check the heartbeats and they are still beating away. The babes are actually too big to completely fit on the u/s. He didn't measure them today, but they are definitely bigger than last time. They were both laying on their backs face up. You can totally see the profile of their faces. On one of them you can see it's ribs. So cute! I'll post pics in a day or two after I get them scanned.

I'll be going in every two weeks from here on out to check my cervix (and hopefully look at the lil' buggers too). I'm halfway to my goal of 32 weeks. They babies should be completely fine if they arrive after then. This is going by so fast! :0)

As soon as we find out the genders we can settle on the names and I can start shopping!! Woo hoo! We should be able to find out in the next month or so...can't wait!

Preparing the nursery

We have (mostly) emptied out the room that will be the nursery. All that's left in there are two items that are too heavy for me to help move, and some stuff in the closet. I was really concerned about the size of the room. I didn't think I'd be able able to get two cribs, a dresser and a glider chair in there comfortably. Well, after taking out the full size bed, the 40 some odd inch TV, and all the other junk that was in there, it really makes it feel bigger. We just have my cedar hope chest and TV stand to move..but they're both heavy.

We did all that cleaning on Saturday. Sunday we brought in one of the cribs we got and managed to assemble it without instructions and without killing each other. It's actually a pretty nice crib. One side slides up and down, the mattress can be lifted up higher, and there is even a drawer on the bottom for storage. Amazingly we had all the parts and figured out where they all went. It's a Christmas miracle - lol.

We've decided we'll only use one crib for at least the first few months, until they roll around too much and disturb the other's sleep. From what I've read online that could last from 2 months to 6 months. Doesn't matter to me, we have crib number two in the garage and can put it together when needed.

I also went through the clothes and pulled out the items that are gender neutral. My mom offered to "pre-treat" them for stains and stuff - and I know she's itching to get her hands on some baby clothes. There were actually quite a few items that could be neutral. I wish boys could wear jean skirts, one of the items is an overall skirt with leather fringe at the bottom. it is SOOOO cute. I really want a girl just so she could wear that outfit with some little boots. Ah! Cute!

I'm really dying to find out their genders...hopefully they won't be shy when the time comes! I have restrained myself and have not purchased one baby item. I just can't bring myself to do it until I know what they are.

I can't wait!

14 weeks!

Time is going so fast! 14 weeks already! Yesterday I finally ventured out and bought some maternity clothes. My mom and I went to Lakewood Town Center and shopped around. I'm so glad I will finally be comfortable at work in some stretchy pants :0)

Also yesterday, my mother-in-law picked up some items from a couple who has two year old twins. We got two cribs, a few strollers, some toys, clothes, and some other items. We were able to get it for a really good deal. It is so surreal to have baby items in our house that are ours. Now I just need to get on Hubby to help me empty out the room that will be the nursery. I want to put the cribs together now :0)

The "pregnancy thing" is really becoming more real to me. I even can feel little flutters from the babies. I can't wait to feel some good strong kicks.

Two more weeks until my next appointment. Woohoo!

12w6d appointment

All went well today. We got the little guys, but the u/s was pretty fuzzy, so it wasn't as nice of a pic. Not even worth posting. They are 3 inches from head to butt - about 4" to their feet. My mom went to this appointment. I felt bad that she didn't get to see them very well.

My next appointment is in 3 weeks, I'll be 16 weeks. I can't wait to see how big they are then! We'll try to see the genders at 20 weeks (about 85% accurate), and we'll know for sure at 24 weeks (99% accurate).

Well, that's about it. I know boring and not much to report. But no news is good news!

I made it!

Finally, I'm 12w2d. So thankful to be moving out of the first trimester. I do have to say time is going by rather quickly. I keep forgetting I wont' get the "normal" 40 weeks for this pregnancy. I'll most likely only get 36 or so. That is about May 10...tomorrow is December 1. Ah! Time is flying!

Well, I just wanted to drop in. I'm still trucking along. I've held off vomiting for over a week, but the nausea is always lurking and comes and goes occasionally. I hope it goes away for good soon. My sniffer is definitely the most sensitive it's ever been. I had to go out and get some fresh air at my parents house on Thanksgiving between the food cooking and the lit candles, my stomach was not happy. Last night I washed our bedding, but I couldn't sleep with it because the dryer sheet smell was making me nauseous. Hopefully since it's aired out for a day I can tolerate it tonight.

Other than that I'm mostly tired and hungry all the time :0)

I have another u/s on Friday. I can't wait to see how much the little buggers have grown!

10w4d appointment

There are the pics!

Appointment went good - yay! The two little gummi's were flipping around and moving all over when the doc was trying to measure them. He measured their neck for signs of down syndrome - I forget the name at the moment. They both looked great. The doc offered to have to do blood tests for DS, but I declined. I don't see a point.

Anyway, now they are about an inch and a half long. About double from two weeks ago. I go in for another u/s in two weeks!

Ta ta for now!

9w6d

I can't believe I'll be 10 weeks along tomorrow. It's weird the weeks seem to be going fast, but the time between my appointments goes so slow. I love being able to see the little blobs on the screen. I have an appointment next Wednesday. I'm hoping we'll be able to finally hear their heartbeats.

I've actually been feeling better the last few days. I'm still really tired and a little queasy in the mornings, but nothing like the nausea and occasional vomiting like the weeks before. I hope this continues!

Well not much to report. I'll check back after my ultrasound!

8w4d appointment

We had our second doctor appointment earlier this week. Wow, the little gummi's have grown a lot in the last two weeks. At our last appointment they were about the size of a grain of rice. At this appointment they were almost an inch long already!

I think I've been feeling the typical pregnancy symptoms. I'm nauseous, mostly in the morning. I'm tired and have no energy most of the time. I have to get up a lot at night to go to the bathroom. I get heartburn occasionally, etc. I haven't had much for food cravings...but definitely some aversions. It's really smells that are turning me off. The smell of someone else's food sometimes makes me ill. I even have to hold my breath when I open the fridge. Not that my fridge is gross, but the smell of leftovers, or whatever, is sick. Even people's perfume, which I normally wouldn't notice can make me gag. Oh the joy of pregnancy. So far, it hasn't been much of a joy, but I hear it should be better in a few weeks (before it gets worse, of course!)

I'm hoping this blog will help those family members and friends who we don't get to see or talk to often keep up to speed with our soon expanding family.

I have another doctor appointment in two weeks. I'll keep you posted!

Until then, here is an u/s picture from this week's appointment:

First appointment

We had our first appointment on October 21. I was 6w4d pregnant. Hubby and I were really nervous, since we didn't know what we'd be able to see or not see. We knew there was a chance that I could be pregnant with multiples since our last fertility cycle had yeilded about 6 eggs. To our surprise it was twins. We saw two sacs and two beautiful heartbeats flickering on the screen.

We were really excited about twins. We have always wanted to two kids. With all that we endured the last couple of years, we had decided months before that if we were ever blessed with a child, that would be it. "It" would be the most loved and spoiled kid on the planet. But now with two...it's icing on the cake!

Of course we know it won't be a piece of cake...but we're up for the challenge!

Here is our first ultrasound picture of Baby A and Baby B:

Welcome!

Hi All!

I'm so glad you decided to drop in! We have some very exciting news to share! We're expecting twins!

To give you a little background. Hubby and I were married in July 2005. The very next month I went off birth control pills. We knew it might take a while for me to get pregnant, but little did we know it would take four years of trying, including two years of medical intervention. After countless doctor appointments, pill popping, drug injecting, and a lot of tears...we finally have succeeded.

Our little gummy bears are due June 2010, but since twins come early...we're expecting them in May.

Please follow along as we start a new journey from infertility to pregnancy to parenthood!
